In Loving Memory of Scott and Carole Tanner
Today and forever, we honor and remember the incredible lives of Scott and Carole Tanner, whose immeasurable contributions to the Community Associations Institute (CAI) Central Indiana Chapter, the Legislative Action Committee (LAC), and the broader community will forever be cherished.
Carole Tanner, a remarkable advocate for education, dedicated much of her life to enhancing knowledge within our Chapter. As the Education Chair for over six years, her passion for learning and growth was undeniable. During the challenging times of the pandemic, Carole's leadership shone through when she developed webinar capabilities, ensuring our Chapter could continue hosting educational seminars throughout Covid and beyond. Her unwavering determination and innovative spirit are the reasons why we can continue offering virtual seminars today. Carole also served on the Chapter Board in multiple capacities, including as Chapter President, and made lasting contributions as the long-time Treasurer of her self-managed community. Her expertise and dedication will be remembered by all who worked alongside her.
Scott Tanner, a true pioneer in the industry, displayed exceptional dedication throughout his involvement with the Central Indiana Chapter and the Legislative Action Committee (LAC). With over fourteen years of service on the Chapter Board, Scott’s leadership and vision saw him appointed Chapter President three times. His impact extended far beyond local boundaries; he was recognized as a Fellow of the prestigious College of Community Association Lawyers (CCAL), presented at national seminars, and represented hundreds of associations. His legal acumen and deep understanding of community association law left a lasting imprint on the industry.
But beyond their professional achievements, Scott and Carole were beloved for their joyful spirits, infectious laughter, and warm personalities. They inspired everyone they met to work passionately for the betterment of the Chapter and the communities they served. Their legacy of commitment, compassion, and service is one that will continue to shape our Chapter for years to come.
To honor their lasting impact, we are proud to announce the creation of the Carole and Scott Tanner Memorial Award. This award will be presented to individual volunteers who exemplify the same dedication and passion that Scott and Carole brought to the CAI community, helping to educate and empower other community association volunteers.
As we remember these extraordinary individuals, let us be inspired by their tireless pursuit of knowledge, their dedication to education, and their unwavering commitment to service. Their legacies will continue to guide us as we strive to make a difference in our community.
Scott and Carole leave behind two IU students, Madeline and McKeon, who are each pursuing promising careers. In this time of profound loss, let us come together to support one another, drawing strength from the memories we shared. May Scott and Carole find eternal peace, and may their contributions never be forgotten.
