Module 1: Governing Documents/Roles and Responsibilities:

Are you aware of your required legal duties as a board member? Do you understand the laws and documents which govern your HOA? The failure of directors to fully understand their legal duties is one of the most common ways in which associations – and individual directors – get in trouble. Attendees will learn about the various roles, laws, duties and responsibilities, which govern associations and board directors, as well as best practices for meeting those obligations while effectively and successfully leading a community association. This module will cover:

    • ·       Indiana Laws and regulations applicable to associations and boards to prevent liability and common liability traps
    • ·       Understanding fiduciary responsibilities to make fiscally responsible decisions
    • ·       How to partner with industry experts such as property managers, accountants and lawyers
